Thanks for the hints, Colby.

Regarding the memo text on the CDP-CX153, this may have something to do with the fact that that drive does *not* store the memos by "slot" as does my CX250 - if you move a disc fron one slot to another in the CX153, the drive recognizes this fact. The CX153 can supposedly store 200 memos, keyed by disc, even though it has a physical capacity of 100. Being able to sort/ reorder/add/remove discs in the changer without reentering the memo text was a nice feature. But Sony took it away when they introduced the CX250...

Any idea what the "bcd index" and "bcd indexes?" in the 0x51 and 0x60 responses are? Could the indexes be related to the "more-memos-than-slots" design of the CX153?

Has anybody found a way to tell the CX250 to display memo's during playback? (the only front-panel options are a choice between "CD-Text" (yeah, right...) and disc/track/time - another Sony feature "downgrade" relative to the older CX153)

Glad to hear that the set_memo feature does work on the CX250, at least... I could have sworn I tried it on both boxes... ;-?

BTW, I encountered one other anomaly with the CX153 - if I issue a play_disc_track command, it starts playing the right disc, but on track 1. Issuing *two* identical play_disc_track command in succession seems to be a work-around...

Happy hacking!
