The problem here is that the S-Link input line is being grounded by the connector you are using, which then locks up the Slink-e as it thinks the port is continuously active. Are you using the cable I supplied? I have seen that some 1/8" mono cables have extra-long ground shanks, and if you plug them all the way into the Slink-e port you end up grounding the "tip" contact of the port. Try pulling the plug out a little bit. Does the orange part of light go out? If so, everything should work after that. I have seen the Slink-e 2.0 (not the 2.1 I'm currently shipping) get locked up (light orange) occasionaly when you plug in its wall transformer due to a slow-rising power supply. Once its powered up OK, everything should be fine. A more remote possibility is that you might have an older "Control-A" component which uses a stereo plug.
