More suggestions for CDJ

Well, I have several suggestions for possible CDJ improvements.

1. We need a setup for the Playlist path. I have gone in and found the selection window pointing at another file location.

2. It would be nice to have a playlist "window" with an access button on the toolbar. My wife is going to have problems playing from playlists unless something like this is provided.

3.CDJ seems to think my modem is a Slink-e - it reports the the Slink-e on port 1 is not responding. I solved the problem by telling CDJ not to examine the non-Slink-e ports (I know, this also speeds up the load process).

4.Someone suggested a 'preview' play function from the Library window. I agree - something like that would simplify the task of selecting titles for playlists, and would also simplify the process of reviewing and making preference settings for each title.

5. I would be nice to be able to sort the Library in Player/Slot sequence

6. A function toggle button for "Show all CDs/Show only loaded CD's/Show only CD's NOT loaded" would be very useful.

7.A function button that would "collapse" all expanded titles in the play list would be nice for cleaning up after myself when building playlists.

8. I am building playlists to use in producing cassettes for playing in the car. It would be nice if you could set a 'time limit' for the playlist (in the case of cassettes, I need 45 minutes per side). Put this way down on the list - it is not very high on my wish list.

9. HELP FILES and UPDATED, DETAILED DOCUMENTATION!!. I am slowing puzzling out how to set events in CDJ and how to read the wave form on the Remote test program to convert it to the necessary binary pattern. I am still trying to get a VB program running that will let me control the slinke - you indicate that such a program is in the SlinkX zip file, but it must be in the works, since it seems to be missing. I have a strong interest in writing an expanded version of your remote control program, to provide a central control panel for my home which is slowly becoming automated. Right now, I cannot run both CDJ and the remote example at the same time. As I figure out how some of these things work, I am writing up some directions for my own benefit. I would be happy to send you a copy of these fragments of my understanding.

10. Having finally figured out what the volume and mute buttons are for and how to set them up, I would now like to have more buttons that I can assign other functions to.

11. An import/export function for the Library would allow me to move titles to & from my Kic CD catalog.

12. I would like a single column printed Library list - the dual column format does not have enough room - here too, it would be nice to have some control over the sort order, fonts and format.

I know you are working madly to whip this product into shape and I continue to be impressed with the amount of time and effort you are devoting to this project. I think Slinke has some sales potential. You might talk to the folks at Home Toys (http://www.hometoys.com/) and Home Automation Systems (http://www.smarthome.com/) about Slinke - both for reviews and as eventual sellers for your product.

Hope you had a great vacation away from Slink-e John
