SLINK-E compatibility

I dont own a SLINK yet, but it looks so nice I just need one, but I wonder if I buy one can I use it at once?? I mean does it work with MY stuff, I have a kenwood tuner, a nokia satellite receiver, a jvc vcr, a philips tv...
or do I need to buy something extra to make my own codes????
