In Response To: Re: CDDB Lookup not working in latest version (Robert Terzi)

My apologies for not addressing this thread of questions sooner. I had tested the versions of CDJ in question on 95 and NT before releasing them. There have been changes made in how the internet access is done to show the connection status and make it so the user could cancel at any time. All of these functions operate through high level MFC calls to the Windows API. My general suspicion is that the problems people are having are due to using older DLLs for the windows internet functions. You should try updating them as was mention earlier in this message thread if you file versions are older. It is wise to make a backup copy of your old DLLs first in case there is a problem. Some DLLs are always being used by windows, so you will need to copy them over while in DOS. FYI - I never hear of any problems from Win NT users (my little plug to convice you to switch to NT :) ) I will also increase the timeout time for CDDB connections in the next release in case your problem lies in having a slow connection to the CDDB.

In terms of versioning the software, I'm working on setting up a version / source control system, but I don't have it place yet. For now, if you want to know what "version" of the code you have, just look at the date on CDJ.EXE. For future releases I will be keeping older versions on the web site in case you need to revert to one of them.

Colby
