In Response To: slinke OCX hangs the system when slinke isn't plugged in? (Chuck Broome)

I think I know what is happening:

Without a Slink-e plugged in, SLINKSERV.EXE finds no Slink-es, which is OK. When you use the SlinkX control to request to add a device to a Slink-e, the Slink-e number you send is essentially invalid since there are no Slink-es. SLINKSERV.EXE then pops up an error message box to inform you of this which may not be visible when the SLINKSERV main dialog window is not being shown (i.e. "minimized" to the tray where the clock is). Until you acknowledge this error the server is essentially unresponsive and locked-up. I plan to solve this problem in a number of ways.

1) Adding a property / method which reports to your application the number of Slinke-s found / available on the server. You could check this before attempting to add a device.

2) Adding a option on the server to turn off the error boxes. (I may just eliminate them altogether)

2) Return error codes in the SlinkX methods to let you know when an error has occured.
