Building the transmitter module

Refer to the schematic above for a wiring diagram of the transmitter module. Solder the remaining 1/8" phono jack  to the 5 infrared LEDs and 10 ohm resistor as shown in the schematic to form an IR transmitter module. The LEDs are polarized. The side of the LED with the notch and the shorter lead is the cathode (the side with the bar in a schematic). The module will look cleaner if you use a piece of perf board to wire the LEDs on. You must use all 5 LEDs unless you increase the resistor value accordingly. The transmitter is quite powerful, so if you aim the 5 LEDs in different directions you will get good room coverage.
