I'm not intimately familiar with the 240 since I don't own one...

Is this problem just with CDJ, or does the same thing happen when you play discs manually?

CDJ requests that the player report back via S-Link the current elapsed time of the track so that it can properly stop placback and cross-fade. It may be that the 240 also interprets this request to cause the time to be displayed on the panel. Unfortunately, CDJ needs this info to function properly.
