CDDB limits maximum lookups in 24hr period on one server

To prevent attacks from hackers, CDDB has resorted to limiting the maximum number of lookups in a 24hr period from one server to 100. Obviously, this can cramp your style when trying to lookup all of the discs in your changer(s). I'm in the process of modifying CDJ so that it will rotate to other servers once the server limit has been exceeded so that this limitation will be transparent to you.

FYI - here is the original notice.

Dear CDDB developer,

As of late, we have been experiencing a lot of "hacker" activity on the CDDB
server sites. This has resulted in some complaints from our server site
administrators and poses a threat to our service. To keep people from
abusing the servers, we have instituted a daily CDDB server access limit
of 200 database operations, which essentially limits each user to 100
downloads from any particular server site in a 24 hour period. We don't
believe that this will pose a problem for the vast majority of your users,
but we thought you should hear about this change nonetheless.

You may want to put support in your application for new error code 417,
which indicates that the server access limit has been reached. The sequence
looks something like this:

417 Database access limit exceeded, explanation follows (until terminating '.')
Blah blah blah blah.
More explanation.
.

As defined in the spec, the '1' in 417 indicates additional information is
to follow the error message. You might want to put generic support for
this in your application if it's not already there.

If you have any questions, please let us know.
