Your problem is definitely different. The reason the control line is dropping is that the Slink-e is rebooting, which resets the digital I/O. The question is WHY is your slink-e rebooting? The only reason this should happen is if:
1. it is told to reboot (perhaps a unlucky desynchronized byte sequence sent to the slink-e)
2. it gets sent some other bad byte sequence which leaves it waiting for more bytes and in the meantime the watchdog timer reboots it.
3. some other event causes the slink-e to somehow freeze and causes a watchdog reboot.
