In Response To: playlist skipping (Karl Linne)

I've been having similar problems. CDJ now has an option to skip bad tracks (I suppose that if it doesn't see time moving, it just moves on to the next track). When this is enabled, tracks are sometimes skipped. When this is disabled, the "bad" disk is loaded up, but then the player just sits there - almost as though it didn't receive a "play" command.

Upon close inspection of the track time as reported by CDJ (ie the number next to the player in the Players window that indicates how much time the track has been playing) while a CD is playing, I noticed that every once in a while a number (1 second) was skipped. This seems like bad communication over the serial line. My slink-e is connected to the computer via 50 feet of cat-3 wire -- that's marginal for RS-232 and probabily isn't supposed to be used at high baud rates.

When I drag the computer over to where the slink-e is and connect it with a good 6 foot cable, I don't seem to have any problems. Unfortunately, this cannot be a permanent solution for me - someday I'll replace the wiring.

It seems to me that many moons ago, CDJ used to operate at 2400 baud. I never had any problems back then. Now it seems to be set for as fast as the computer will allow. I know that this is entirely out of the question for heavy-duty IR use, but is there any possibility of being able to lower the baud rate for those of us that don't need it so fast?
