CDJ Problems & New Ideas

Colby,

NOTE: These comments relate to the version posted before last night, and so may have been fixed in the new release.

1). I worked around the save problem by creating a playlist under an old version, then renaming it in dos.

2). Either/Or Random/Shuffle seems to corrupt a playlist. I created a playlist with just some 1970s new wave tracks, then hit shuffle and random a few times, and the tracks changed into Rolling Stomes numbers. I know that is a pretty vague explanation, but something is wrong with the mechanism.

3). Window sizes are not saved

4). In the playlist the title buttons do not sort the fields as you would expect them to do.

5). When you open a playlist it seems to merge with the existing open one.

6). The last played field doesn't seem to do anything, it would be useful if it did.

The following are ideas for new features:

A). Add Lock Icon to library and playlist, this would stop editing when locked. It is very easy to change something e.g. names, and song orders, when you are really just copying between library and playlist. If you could lock the individual files (say add LOCKED to the front of the test file), then life would be much easier. And also stop my 1 year old son from wipeing stuff just cos the teletubby hit the keyboard.

B). Add a most-recently-used (MRU) list to the file menu, then the most recent playlists could be accessed real easy, say the last 8.

C). Add a command line mode, i.e. if you specify a playlist on the command line after CDJ it will start playing automatically when CDJ starts. This would be good for those of us who have CDJ in the startup menu.

D). Add CDJ commands to the events screen in options. E.g. a startup load playlist etc.

Anyway thats the results of last nights testing/playing. Having great fun with this, keep up the good work.

Will check the new release tonight.

Cheers
