In Response To: Sony news from COMDEX (Brian Conte)

The i.LINK[tm] name and logo identify a digital interface (IEEE 1394
specification) for high speed communication. Computers, peripherals,
audio and digital camera products with i.LINK ports can be hooked
together with a single cable for both data transmission/reception and
control.

The i.LINK interface enables transmission of multiple formats of data
simultaneously, including digital video, digital audio, DVD, DSS and
special command controls to operate AV equipment remotely. A key
advantage of i.LINK is high-speed, accurate transmissions of data.
Possible speeds include 100, 200 or 400 Mbps (Mega bit per second),
with actual speed determined by the slowest speed of equipment
connected.
