Digital multiplexer?

Does anyone know kow difficult would it be to build one? Or are such things available commercially (cheaply)? Mostly I'm interested in coaxial. I have only 1 coaxial input on my receiver, but 2 coaxial devices -- my sound card and the AC-3 output of my DVD decoder card. Maybe multiplexer is the wrong term. I don't want to mix the signals, just auto-switch between them when a source is present. One could have priority or something, if it makes it easier to implement. Ideas?
