Can confirm that you don't need to actually load each disc. If you get the first disc loaded and then start to input then pressing the right arrow key on the remote moves up one disc. You need to note, however, that it goes up one disc whether or not the slot is loaded.

If you could add support for a second player, even with some restrictions and user intervention to get to a known state I would love you forever.
