library saved to current working directory?

I just finished scanning and grabbing CDDB data for a freshly filled
200-disc changer, and when I exited and reloaded, all of the new data
was gone. I found a file with the coorect name, containing only the
new discs, in the Device Files directory, where I'd recently gone to
add IR control for my receiver. This is surprising, to say the least.
