Well this is almost my exact setup. I just have the older 205 model cd player. I have run a cat5 cable downstairs to my slinke and it works fine. I use the IR function of the Slink to control my PCDVD via a wonderful program by Jon Welfringer, which is available on the nirvis site. I also use the the slink to control my DSS upstairs from my pc so I can watch TV on my tv with my Matrox Marvel AGP. I ran two coax cable in addition to my cat5 downstairs for my Sony DE925 dolby digital reciever for true home theater sound.
