I think you are out of luck. There is nothing CDJ is specifically doing which is causing this to happen. If the player is externally controlled, it will cut off the upstream player when it is doing anything. I'd recommend running both outputs into an active mixer. You will not lose any of your old functionality this way and CDJ will be able to cross fade as well. Some other alternatives are described in the linke below.
