Device files for transmit only.

I'm developing a C++ application for controlling my disimilar audio/video equipment.

I'm using the Slinke C++ software. I don't want to make changes to the files in the Slinke directory, so I can easily install new releases from Colby.

I use the addev method to associate a device file to a particular port. In my case, I have several devices associated with a single IR input port for the purpose of being able to decode the incoming control-S signal. The signal may be a Kenwood receiver, Sony DSS, Sony TV, Technics CD command, etc.

Is there a way I can add a device file to associate it to the same port for the purposes of transmitting only? Using type=IRTXONLY may work, but I'd have to change the device file to something like IR[9500, -600, 600, -1800 ....] from the existing code:command syntax.

It seems like there should be a way to associate a device file to a port for either transmit, receive, or both, rather than always associating the file to both the IR transmit port AND the IR receive port.

Aren't the transmit and receive IR pins of given PORT totally independent from a hardware standpoint?
