For what it's worth I changed laptops and the problem has gone away for now.
I'll mention if it comes back. When I was having the problem, I was using
slinkeserve.
BTW I picked up a CDP-CX210 at the Sony outlet store in Tracy for $150 refurb.
They had one 220 for $200 refurb.
