Low Level Control

Hello everyone,

I am trying to control the slink-e without a windows interface. The reason for this is that I am trying to use a automation software that can send text ASCII information to COM ports and will allows me tie each command to a timing information so that at specific times during the day (down to the second level) I can control IR devices.

I have used the EZ learn software to record the IR waveform and have captured the data (Using windows Hyperterminal)that the Slink-E (ver 2.3) sends to the computer, and then press the TRY button in the EZ learn software to send out the file to the Slink-E and also capture this information with HyperTerminal so that I know the IR string controls the device. After this I used a HEX editor to look at the contents of the captured file and it appears to be what I expected from the html documentation included with the Slink-E. I receive a 9F 01 (Hex) at the beginning of the file to indicate that it is a command for the IR port and channel 0. After this there is another command 9F 06 7C (Hex) which is setting the frequency for 40 Khz. After this then there is the data with a send command of 8F (Hex) followed by 15 bytes of data which is correct before the next 8F until the end of the file which is terminated with a 80 (Hex) for SEND END.

Everything appears to be correct and so then in HyperTerminal I send this out to COM1 which is where the Slink-3 is connected as a Text file but do not see any activity on the output of IR port 0 which I am monitoring with a Oscilloscope.

At present I do not know if it is a HyperTerminal problem that I am fighting with and it is stripping some information or something else. If anyone else has done some work of addressing the Slink-E directly I would appreciate any hints that you might have. Also if there is other software more appropriate for monitoring this activity I would appreciate knowing about it.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Brook Powers
