Mitsubishi A/V network

From Mitsubishi: AV Network: Infrared remote code link between Mitsubishi TVs and VCRs. For use with older models of VCR which do not provide the one-button automation available on some current models.

Does anyone know if I can run one of the slink-e IR ports directly into a Mitsubishi TV and somehow take advantage of this IR link? Im trying to get my older (3 years) Mitsubishi bigscreen to cooperate well with the other equipment but the lack of a (at least obvious) specific ON and specific OFF commands are causing my grief. I was wondering if there is anyway to take advantage of the Mitsubishi A/V network (which appears to just by a hardwired IR connection) to do this. Anyone know *anything* about this? Any hints, clues, etc grealy appreciated.
