Yeah, I've considered using the serial port for control, but until I figure out why my mouse won't move to the ps/2 port like I think it should be able, all four serial ports are tied up. And I'm also trying to resist running Yet Another Serial Cable between the office and my a/v rig, but I probably will cave in on that point once I have another free port since I'd like to make use of some of the other information that I believe can be pulled from the serial port. In the mean time, wondering if there's a legitimate purpose for this assertion/blanking thing will be bugging me.
