DXS & RS 232 Control

Can the DXS send an RS-232 code to third party equipment? For example, If there was a video switcher or preamp with RS-232 control, could DXS send a RS232 command when it detected a signal for a specific input.
You could have automatic digital switching and RS232 commands.
