Sony 2 way remote

Does anyone know how the Sony 2 way remote works (I think it comes with the cx350)? Does the player send IR to the remote? The reason I am asking, is that if it does send IR, then I can somehow rig the computer to send the text I want the remote to display via the Slink-e.

Also when I try to do a CDDB download I get the error message box "HTTP Error". It has worked in the past every time. I'll try again tomorrow, maybe CDDB is doing some maintenance or something...
