Using an existing, tested 2-way (type=IR) device file is certainly the easiest way to go if you can get your remote to emulate that device's remote (very easy with the Pronto).
I'm very close to releasing a version of E-Z Learn with 2-way file generation capability. It is also able to convert your older IRTXONLY files to IR files.
