Perhaps it would be more appropriate to say that you shouldn't use any product made by Creative Labs. They tend to make cheap, noisy and underfunctional products. I don't know about the 'live platinum' but I would assume it is similar marketing BS to their 'AWE64 Gold' which had 72dB s/n on a loopback test I did. Can you say 8-track?
