CDJ Automation Error

I just started playing around with CDJ automation and found that if I do a

notify_playing_item[on]

I sometimes get two playing[...] responses: one is correct and the second one is wrong and is either for a different or invalid track.

I also noticed this behavior in one of the screen savers.

What's up with this? Certainly makes it hard to do anything useful. BTW, CDJ is showing the correct track.
