Unfortunately, this won't work. Inevitably, you will have to switch to a particular input when you want to use it. The problem isn't that the signal drops out when the DXS switched - it switches very fast (~10ns) - the problem is that each signal has a slightly different sampling frequency and has data packets which are out of phase with your previous signal. When you switch from one signal to another, you end up with a couple of possibilities:

1) loosing synchronization with sampling clock 2) getting a coding violation / CRC error due to a change in data in mid-packet

To avoid this you would have to buffer data and make a gradual transition from one sampling rate and word clock phase to another - which would be difficult and expensive.
