Go the VB route. When I first got my Slink-e and HomeVision together I tried to get them talking by sending different IR signals back and forth. Of course it never worked, so I broke down and wrote a small VB app that now can do almost everything I want. I can send slink-e style commands [cdj:playlist_stop] by using HV to send ASCII over the serial line. The best feature for me is being able to make a text file with current track information and display it on my TV via the RAM video screens.

Bottom line: it's worth learning the VB. I'll send you my source code if you want to take a look at it.
