I guess I'd keep it as it is now. I've pretty much compensated for it in my app. I use CDJ primarily as an automation server. One of the things my app does is display the next item to be played in a playlist. I now look at the current playing item to the current item in a playlist. If they aren't the same, I assume direct play from CDJ or from the player itself. There's a slim chance that the currently playing item is the same as the current item in the playlist but that's pretty rare and things are only wrong for that one item.

I kind of like the flexibility of what's there now. No matter how you play, I can display what's currently playing and have a fair idea of how it was played.
