Album covers

Yet another newbie question.
From reading here, I've found that the automagic way of getting album covers doesn't work.
So, I decided to download some and drag them as cdj instructs. Anyway, I did 5 (and all 5 have the image file location in the details box). However, the 'image' is never displayed.
Even the albums window has the little image icon.
Please let me know what dumb thing I'm doing wrong.
