CDJ not playing most of my CDs

Ever since upgrading from a text library to a database, I have had a situation where, on occasion, a * appears beside most of the entries in the library, making it so that CDJ will not play songs from those CDs.
It is like CDJ thinks they are removed from the player, but they are not.
Does anyone know what is causing this, how to avoid it, and most importantly how to correct it?
