RCA jack out rather than telephone jack

My B&K receiver has a mini-RCA jack in the back that takes an IR repeater (wish they all did that - it's really clean!). I presume I can solder a mini-plug to two of the leads coming from the Slink-e IR out data cable? I currently have the Slinke "shooting" to a IR receiver then to the above plug - which works OK but it's a lot of "clap trap"
