Sold my Sony 850 for many of the reasons stated above. Bought the Pioneer DV-F07. I am much happier now. Main difference between the pioneer DV-F07 (Elite model) and the Pioneer F727 (non-elite model) is the elite unit has two way RS232 control. There should be no problem driving the Sony DVP850 as an IR device through the slinke. I did it but had a xantech IR network in the middle. That should not make a difference
