Specifics of Random Mode

How exactly does random mode choose the tracks? Will it try to avoid picking the same track twice? What happens when it has played all of the tracks?

For example:

- I run a search on an artist and get back 36 results. My random setting is to keep 5 tracks ahead of the current item. I don't notice any repeats.

- If I set my random setting to keep 40 tracks ahead of current item then it _appears_ that CDJ randomly picks 36 tracks with no repeats and then starts repeating on track 37.

Is this what CDJ is actually doing? If I have my random setting to keep 5 tracks ahead will I get the same sort of results.

The reason I'm concerned about this is because I've added a feature to my HA system to play only tracks by a specific artist. When a user selects an artist I want to randomly play all of the tracks by that artist and then stop. I can use the cdj:searchlist_size command to know when to stop the playlist but I want to make sure that CDJ won't repeat tracks before it plays through all of them.

Does that make sense?

-Shawn
