I have a friend with Sony STR-G3 receiver that has the "egg" RF remote =
and On Screen Display. It's fun to play with, but the egg is not =
convenient if you just want to adjust the volume (a simple up/down =
button is much easier).

I'd really like to try using a regular IR remote with this unit but =
don't have one with me here to try. The STR-G3 does have an IR receiver =
on the front since it can learn IR codes to re-transmit - however I have =
no idea if it can be used to receive regular Sony IR commands such as =
volume. It also has a "Control A" port on the back, but again I don't =
know if this is output only, or if it would respond to commands via this =
port.

Does anyone here have any info or experience with this unit and know if =
it does either of the above?

Thanks

Will
