It didn't take long to discover that changer must not be in program mode when trying to get CDJ to look for

discs. <<

Oops. The program checks for this at some other points (e.g. at startup) and puts the player in continue mode, but I guess it should check more often since you may change it while CDJ is running.

I also have not been able to get CDJ to reach a CDDB server. I tried on a Win 98 box and Win 95 one. I

guess I'll have to try loading some new dlls. BTW, does anyone know which CDDB protocol CDJ use, the

one that runs over HTTP or the normal straight connection one? <<

CDJ just uses the HTTP protocol. I'm trying to track down why the newer versions of CDJ (which have better monitoring of the HTTP communications with the CDDB server) don't seem to work with some peoples Win95 systems. Your mention that it fails under Win98 might indicate that there is a deeper problem with the program. I use and develop the program under NT 4.0, but have also tested it under Win95 on the same computer.

Is it possible get CDJ to *fetch* the memo text from the changer? I know there is a command to do that

because my Sony STR-DE815G receiver can get the memo data for its controller. <<

Yes it does, but only for discs you have in your CD library. There are "download one" and "download all" buttons on the CD Library window which will download this text into a memo text field for each disc which can be seen in the music ratings window. You can also upload to the player, automatically generating memos from the CDDB data or you own manual entries. This works with the CX255,CX70ES,and CX220. It may work with the CX240 - I don't know until you try it.
