In Response To: Beware of ports labeled Control-S / S-Link (Colby Boles)

This post got me thinking about a few problems I've been having with the same steady yellow Slinke light problem. I had to reconfigure my S-link plugs so that the CD is plugged into the Ctrl-A1 port on my receiver and the Slink-e is plugged into the second Ctrl-A1 port on the CD player. My TV/VCR/DSS equip is all plugged into ports labeled S-Link/Ctrl-S. Things are now starting to make a little sense about how to plug things together, but this brings up more questions about interoperability.

Before my questions, here's a quote from my Sony Ctrl-A1 documentation:

"S-Link is a general term for Sony Audio/Visual component control system. S-Link is composed of the following two (2) systems: CONTROL-A1........A control system for audio components. CONTROL-S.........A control system for TV's and VCR's."

Now my questions: Do any of the receivers that have both Ctrl-A1 and Ctrl-S "route" information between the two busses? Is the only way to communicate with all your S-Link devices to use two S-Link busses on the Slink-e? Can Slink-e route between the two protocols, on two busses? Does Slink-e support both of these protocols? How much do these protocols differ?

Any more questions or comments?
