The sliders have no effect when you are using keywords.

The keyword search works as you describe to help increase the number of "hits" CDJ finds while still keeping things some what random. To add to your description, CDJ picks a random staring point within a selected discs tracks when looking for a match.

In the future, this will operate differently. CDJ will create a list of all tracks meeting your criterion and then pick randomly from that. This will make things more random and increase the speed of playlist generation after the initial search. it will also allow you to see the matches ahead of time.
