The Slink-e SHOULD be functional since the main unit and IR transmitter are tested before shipping. It sounds like the Slink-e is functioning, but the IR transmitter is not working for some reason. Lets start from some basic questions and go from there:
Do you have the IR transmitter plugged in via the modular phone cable (or 1/8" mono cable in older versions)?
Does the the Slink-e light flash orange when you attempt to send IR?
