I'd like to add that you can actually insert a delay without loading the lowlevel device. I have added a "hack" to the device file interface which allows creating delays using any IR or S-Link device file. Just say
anydevice:ir[-100000]
where "anydevice" is the name of a device you have loaded. The negative number is the delay in microseconds.
