cx850d gone bezerk - help!

Ok, so I've got the dvp-cx850d from hell. The "load" function makes it through anywhere between 5 and 20 discs before it flings a dvd halfway out of its slot, then drags all the other dvds past it. If I'm lucky, it only scratches or breaks the one dvd; if I'm not, it gets 6 or 8 before I get to the power off.

Sony has had the beast a few times and claimed to have fixed it, but it's still doing it. Ok, I can live without the load function.

So I just got it back and put in all the DVD's again (200 -- it's full). But the DVD menu will only recognize that it has a DVD in a particular slot if it's been played. I want to manually enter all the titles rather than one at a time.

Is there any way to get it to recognize that it has 200 dvd's in it, without using the dreaded "load/self-destruct" button? I don't want to go through each one...
