Ok, I'm retrying the search (not exactly the way I did originally).

The first time I did it I told it look in every slot because I
knew that I shifted a bunch of CDs and thought it would be faster.
When that didn't work as desired I just start doing multiple passes
of search the slots which CDJ wasn't sure about.

This time around I just told it to search the slots it wasn't sure about.
It's up to pass 19 and it's not finished yet.

I think I have a guess on whats going on. Say a CD called "foo" is in
slot player 1, slot 50. I move "foo" into player 2, slot 12. When
I tell CDJ to go look for new CDs it will eventually check player 2, slot 12
and find "foo". But CDJ thought "foo" was in P1, S50, but instead of declaring
"foo" is P2, S12, CDJ simply marks it as suspect. It won't be until the
next pass when CDJ now checks on P1, S50 to make sure that it is really gone will it declare "foo" at P2, S12. From this I would guess that CDJ would correctly handle the case when there are two copies of a CD in the players.

I suspect CDJ doesn't behave as many of us expect when it is told to scan
specific slots because f those slots contain CDs that are already in the
library doesn't complete verification pass that I described above.

I still can't explain why CDJ refused to recognize a CD in a new location when
it was already displaying that CD as being in unknown location. Hmmm, maybe I
do have a guess after all. I am guessing that CDJ still remembers where
that CD used to be, I would not be surprised if CDJ still wants to run a verification pass. Colby, is this a bug?

I think the moral of the story is CDJ is usually pretty smart.
