Prior to your suggestion of iterating the command space, I tried contacting Toshiba and Kenwood. Both curtly declined to release "proprietary information." From your other messages, I gather Sony is equally uncooperative. I can imagine a few reasons for their secrecy; perhaps units are defeatured for marketing reasons and publishing the IR would interfere with the marketing schemes. Or they are worried about maintaining some edge over competitors? Maybe they are worried that we will be crashing the things? Or (most likely) they are lazy and do not want to babysit the command language with the general public asking them questions about it.

Anyway, I will try iterating the command space. The Kenwood has 16 bits to iterate, 65535 combinations. At one per second that's 18 hours, ten per second that's 1.8 hours. If you have an idea of how fast I should pump out the codes, let me know.
