1. I normally run all this 24/7 in shuffle mode. After running it for a while (a day or two), discs start to "disappear".

They'll get grayed out in the library list and the slink viewer will show a "no_disc" when I try to play them. If I close

CDJ, then open and close the player access drawer (causing the disc memory to be reloaded) and then restart

CDJ, everything is back to normal. This has actually been happening for about 6 months now - at one point

Colby though it might be a grounding problem that would be fixed in slink-e 2.0, but I'm still experiencing the

problem even after upgrading.
<<

At one level or another, this seems like a problem with the player. If the player is reporting that there is no_disc in some location, CDJ has no choice but to believe the player. I remember talking about this a long time ago with you, and I think you said that the player doesn't forget discs if it is not being controlled by the Slink-e. With the optical coupling of the Slink-e 2.0, I'm inclined to think the the "memory lapses" of the player may have more to do with some kind of firmware bug or problem which is caused when the player is controlled via S-Link, maybe from some command combination or too many commands at once. Or it could be some kind of sensor failure, but this would manifest itself even when not using the Slink-e. I really have no idea what's going on here. I'm sure it doesn't make you feel any better, but I haven't seen this happen with my 3 players at home which also run for very long periods of time.

>>

2. A more recent problem is that in shuffle mode it will occasionally stop playing. When I look at CDJ the player

is shown in pause mode. If I right-click on the payer and choose Play, everything is back to normal (until the next

time it happens).
<<

Someone mentioned this to me recently, and I think I may have fixed it. I'm waiting for them to get back to me as to whether the fix worked or not.

>>

3. And what I think is a very recent problem (at least I never noticed it before) is that in shuffle mode, items on

the play list get randomly skipped. The green arrow moves to these items for less than a second and then

moves on. These tracks/discs are not shown grayed so I think this is a different problem than #1.
<<

Sounds like a bug. If you can catch a log of this, I'd like to see it. BTW, I think I might start improving the logging system to not only show the S-Link commands, but also what CDJ is doing at certain time points.

>>

4. One other problem I've noticed just occasionally is that after a track is done, I'll hear a few seconds of the next

track before CDJ switches to the correct track, per the play list.
<<

... and you're sure that it is not due to poor track marking on the discs, as happens in some live albums, right? Does the problem always happen on the same tracks? CDJ always tries to stop playback when it sees that the correct item is not playing. It may be that the player occasionally doesn't report a timecode or that CDJ is processing incoming messages very slowly due to some heavy CPU activity, maybe in another program. I've noticed a second or so of play into the song sometimes, but it was due to poor track marking and wasn't really something that CDJ could know about.

Colby

Any ideas? I'll try to get some slink traces to help.
