"Video S-Link" appears to actually be "control-s out", which is basically IR codes over wire. What I'm starting to experiment with is using the slink-e Control-S port to monitor what a video device (dvd, tv, etc) "says" on that port when a command is sent or button is pushed. Even if I can't send commands to my DVD "s-link" port, if I can use it to monitor the status of my DVD player with the S-Link, that is still a step up from the 'send-only' nature of IR.

Question: Does anyone who reads this board have one of the Sony 5-Disc DVD changers? Since that player supports "MegaControl", my guess is that it's S-Link control is a real Control-A1 version, and if that is the case, I'm curious if you can also send it DVD-video commands and get mode information from it, like you can with the CD-Changer.

Also, I'm too hardware-inept to be able to build myself a mini-jack breakout box for the parallel port. Is there anyone interested in doing this? I'd like one that supports the Xanatech IR emitters, and has 8 IN and 8 OUT jacks....
