Will an X10 CM17A work?

I have a couple of those little CM17A X10 transmitters that are a pass-thru serial port dongle. (They're dirt cheap when X10 is promoting the Firecracker kit, like $6 _including_ a remote control, lamp module, transceiver, etc.)

Anyway, I've tried hooking their up to either port (ie, with or without pass-thru), but SlinkeServ doesn't recognize it as an X10 device (which I believe must be a CM11A at this point). Not surprising -- this definitely isn't a CM11A -- I understand it's an extremely simple device (transmitter only), but it still seems capable of sending the on/off/dim commands that SlinkeServ supports for the CM11A.

I guess supporting the CM17A isn't as easy as adding entries in a new device file or something like that, is it?

Here are a couple of other automation links for those interested in the CM17A... http://mlug.missouri.edu/~tymm/ http://www.lickey.com/flipit/

The following link is also supposed to have some technical programming info on the CM17A, but it seems to be down a lot... http://www.x10.com/manuals/cm17a_proto.txt
