Need help with Slike Active X control

Setup: Slinke interface connected via S-link 0 to a Sony CDP-cx300 changer. I have a comprehensive database of my CDs and would like to incorporate the active X control in my Visual Basic database program.

I started by writing a small test program for the Slinke, which basically does the following: 1. Use the Connect method to connect (This works. The server starts up.) 2. Use the AddDevice method to specify the cdsls.cde device file. 3. I can then get the number of codes (52) from the GetNumCodes method,

and I can list them with the GetCodeName method. All this works OK. 4. Set the ReportNoMatch property to 1 so all events from the player

should be reported.

5. Use the Send method - x=slinke.send(DevName,"power_up") for example.

This does NOT work. It returns a false. The server says 0 sends and

0 receives. I have tried various commands, device names, etc.

Also, while the program is running, the SlinkeDeviceEvent never fires.

I can see the light on the slinke flash when I do something like open

the door, but the event does not fire.

Since neither send or receive works, I'm assuming that I left out something fundamental, but I have not been able to determine what.
