You can achieve the album subsort by sorting the Album column first and then sorting the Artist column.

I find that CDDB data is not always in the same format, so even after downloading, I may need to do some manual editing. For example, the artist may be listed as "The Beatles" for one Beatles album and "Beatles" for another Beatles album. I always manually strip the "The" off the artist name, and make other changes, as required, so that the artist names will sort the way I want them to. One of the most common changes that I make to the downloaded CDDB artist name is to rearrange the name from "firstname lastname" to "lastname, firstname".
